Touchtown y WesleyLife ayudan a combatir el aislamiento en casa con una nueva e innovadora aplicación

Nov 11, 2021

Touchtown and Iowa-based health and well-being organization WesleyLife are launching an innovative new at-home app to engage with seniors in their own homes, designed to help combat social isolation of older adults served through WesleyLife Meals on Wheels.

WesleyLife is set to become the first senior living provider to utilize the latest in digital technology with a custom app from Touchtown, allowing them to share their extensive portfolio of engaging and high-quality content beyond their residential community, and extending the functionality of their existing Touchtown platform.

With the pandemic driving levels of loneliness to an all-time high and being passionate about purpose for older adults, the team at Wesley Life recognized a crucial need to expand its extensive health and well-being programs to those in the local community, providing much-needed remote support at a time when personal interactions have been restricted.

Available programs will include everything from cooking classes, workshops, yoga classes, nutrition information, TedTalks and exercise programs to Meals on Wheels menu choices and local Iowa information – all accessible via a mobile device. With flexible login access, it is anticipated that the use can be extended to family members, allowing them to support their relatives in accessing content if needed. .

Shannon Draayer, director of health and well-being for WesleyLife, said, “The pandemic has increased feelings of isolation among many of the individuals we serve. Working with Touchtown to extend our engaging and interactive programs out to those in the community is a natural fit for us. We want to enhance purpose and meaning in the lives of those who place their trust in us, and this app will certainly help to promote feelings of well-being and inclusion.”

Mike Rethage, SVP of Touchtown added, “The team at WesleyLife has demonstrated innovation and vision in their desire to support all older adults wherever they’re located. We’re proud to be part of a project that has combined their energy with our technology, and together we’re delivering a ground-breaking solution for something which has become a significant challenge for our older generation.”

The app launched in October and will be available on iOS and Android for anyone registered with WesleyLife At Home Services. For further information, please visit their website.
