Touchtown Partners with Movement as Medicine to Provide Access to Wellness Through Dance

Apr 7, 2021

Touchtown is excited to announce a new partnership with Movement as Medicine to deliver exercise and wellness content to more than 1,300 Touchtown-powered senior living communities. Touchtown customers with a Movement as Medicine paid subscription can simply choose from a library of dance exercise content right from Touchtown’s cloud-based Content Manager. For the month of April, Movement as Medicine is offering 8 videos for free through Touchtown’s Content Manager.

Each Movement as Medicine class is produced and led by founder, Barry Brooks. With original choreography to music that is well known and loved by seniors, there is sure to be something every resident will enjoy while improving their brain and heart health. Barry’s focus on his participants’ health and wellness is truly inspiring.

We want to make sure we are modulating the breathing while consistently emphasizing hydration. The phrase we use to emphasize this is “what’s good for the heart is good for the brain."

“I rarely play two or three fast songs in a row–depending on the audience, of course. We want to make sure we are modulating the breathing while consistently emphasizing hydration. The phrase we use to emphasize this is ‘what’s good for the heart is good for the brain,’” Barry shared.

Barry’s knowledge of brain and heart health for seniors allows him to create choreography and workout classes around what is best for his audience dependent upon age and ability levels. Ensuring regulated breathing and hydration while working out helps to improve processing time, in turn combating memory and mobility loss.

Partnering with Barry from Movement as Medicine has been a total dream. Barry’s enthusiasm breathes amazing life into his videos. It gets me up and active, and I know the residents and staff at the communities we work with will feel the same way!
