Where can virtual nursing support your team?

Virtual nursing enables seasoned nurses to offer their expertise during essential yet time-consuming aspects of patient care, intake and discharge for example, through remote video conferencing. Like telehealth, it involves real-time, two-way communication between the patient and healthcare provider for matters that don’t necessitate physical tests or examinations.

Using a wall-mounted TV screen or a tablet positioned near the patient’s bed, the virtual nurse provides additional information and answers questions, working in tandem with the bedside nurse who delivers hands-on care—combining the strengths of both approaches.

Supporting Administration

Virtual nurses handle tasks like gathering admission health and medication histories, conducting discharge education, and managing other administrative duties, allowing bedside nurses to spend more direct time caring for patients.

Logistical Efficiency

The flexibility of virtual care roles allows nurses who need fewer physical demands or reduced onsite presence to continue providing patient care and share their expertise with bedside nurses.

Improved Satisfaction

Bedside nurses have noted that virtual care helps them manage their workload more effectively, and patient satisfaction has improved due to the more concentrated attention from the care team.

Telehealth Video Connect

Connect to Family

As well as providing virtual consultation with hospital staff, our telehealth solution helps keep patients connected with their loved ones, fostering comfort and companionship during their hospital stay.

With easy-to-use video chat functionality, patients can engage with friends and family at any time—without requiring staff assistance.

Our solution ensures that meaningful connections remain uninterrupted, even when patients are resting or unable to communicate. Loved ones can check in on them remotely, providing reassurance and emotional support from anywhere. By removing barriers to communication, Uniguest Telehealth enhances the patient experience, reduces feelings of isolation, and helps create a more connected and compassionate care environment.

Client in focus:

NewYork-Presbyterian

NewYork-Presbyterian is dedicated to excellence in patient care, research, education, and community service. The virtual integrated program was piloted on 10 units across two hospitals over five months. Its success in improving patient and nurse satisfaction led to its expansion across the organization. An interprofessional steering committee, including representatives from various departments, oversees the program. Virtual nurses support staff and enhance the patient care experience by performing tasks and documentation in Epic, except for physical assessments. The program aims to prepare patients for successful self-management and treatment adherence, positively impacting their transition back to the community.
