Stavanger University Hospital
A flagship deployment of Uniguest Healthcare Hub in Europe
Stavanger University Hospital is one of the largest and most strategically significant healthcare investments in Western Norway – a modern, future-ready site designed to support patients, staff and visitors through an increasingly complex digital environment.
With approximately 650 beds, all in private patient rooms, Stavanger represents the scale and operational reality of a next-generation European hospital. It also marks a major milestone for Uniguest in the Nordics – not only as a high-profile deployment in its own right, but as a flagship reference site supporting the growth of Uniguest Healthcare Hub across Europe.
When hospital communication must be consistent, reliable and secure
Modern hospitals rely on digital communication across many environments. It isn’t only about entertainment in patient rooms – it’s about ensuring that the right information reaches the right people at the right moment, whether that’s patients, clinical teams or operational staff.
At Stavanger, these requirements were amplified by scale. As a major new-build hospital, the organisation had the opportunity to design its digital environment from the ground up. Rather than deploying separate platforms for every use case, Stavanger wanted a unified approach – one centrally managed foundation capable of supporting multiple services across the hospital.
A platform designed to scale and evolve over time
The project was delivered through a public tender process that prioritised stability, flexibility and long-term value. Stavanger required a solution that could support large-scale patient room services, deliver internal communications across staff environments and integrate cleanly with other hospital systems through APIs.
Screen agnosticism was also critical, ensuring the hospital could avoid vendor lock-in and remain flexible across display technologies.
The objective was not simply to deploy screens. It was to establish a scalable digital experience layer for the hospital, with one CMS that could simplify management and support new capabilities as needs evolved.
We needed a platform we could trust across a large hospital environment. Stability was non-negotiable – and we also wanted the flexibility to support different display environments and connect to other systems through APIs.

Uniguest Healthcare Hub in action
Uniguest Healthcare Hub was selected to deliver Stavanger’s vision – a modular platform designed for healthcare environments, bringing multiple services together under one centrally managed ecosystem.
Across the hospital, Uniguest supports digital experiences in patient rooms, staff areas and shared spaces. In private patient rooms, the solution provides a modern patient experience, combining information and entertainment to help patients feel informed and supported throughout their stay.
Beyond patient rooms, Healthcare Hub also supports internal communications through digital signage in staff environments, enabling consistent messaging across departments.
Stavanger has also deployed digital room signage / meeting room displays across shared spaces, with around 60 room displays integrated with Microsoft Office 365. This enables calendar synchronisation and two-way booking workflows, allowing staff to view availability at a glance and reserve rooms directly via the display.
Bringing these environments together in one platform reduces complexity and creates a simpler operational model, treating digital communication as a connected service rather than a collection of standalone devices.
The biggest day-to-day benefit is how easy it is to inform both patients and staff. It helps us communicate across different areas of the hospital in a very simple way.”

Why Uniguest: flexibility, integration and reliability from day one
In hospital environments, reliability is as important as functionality. Stavanger needed confidence that the platform would scale across hundreds of patient rooms and multiple service areas, while remaining manageable for IT teams.
For Stavanger, Uniguest has delivered a stable platform that performs consistently in day-to-day use.
With Stavanger delivered as a new-build programme, the team benefited from longer planning horizons, allowing content and workflows to be planned in advance. Uniguest partners described the rollout as smooth and efficient, supporting fast configuration at scale. Kristian Elvestad, Uniguest Regional Sales Director for the Nordics, described feedback from the deployment as “super smooth”.
When we evaluated solutions, Uniguest was the most flexible in terms of the screens and display types it could support. It was also stronger when it came to connecting with other systems that are relevant in a hospital environment. That flexibility was a key deciding factor.
